Serves four
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 900g lean beef steak, diced
- flour to dust
- 6 shallots, peeled and quartered
- 3 large carrots, diced
- 3 small kipfler potatoes, steamed and diced
- 3 parsnips, diced
- half a butternut pumpkin, diced
- handful of fresh sage
- 500ml red wine
- 300ml beef stock
- 2 tablespoons tomato puree
- black pepper, to taste
Method
Pre-heat the oven to 140 degrees C. Toss the meat in the flour and place in a casserole dish with the vegetables. Add all the other ingredients, cover with a lid and cook in the oven for up to four hours. Use the other half of the butternut pumpkin to make your baby’s mash.
For your baby: sweet potato and pumpkin mash

This is a great source of betacarotene for your baby.
Ingredients
- 1 sweet potato
- half a butternut pumpkin
Method
Peel and dice both vegetables, and boil or steam until tender. Mash together with a little of your baby’s usual milk until you achieve a suitable consistency.
